Buddhist Monks, accompanied by their dog Aloka, are currently engaging in a notable ‘Walk for Peace’ through Georgia. Their journey is intended to inspire communities near Atlanta and, soon, Athens with a message emphasizing unity, compassion, and hope. We invite you to support this meaningful initiative and help promote the message of peace.
You may follow the monks’ progress and receive real-time updates by accessing their live map: http://walkforpeace.short.gy/live-map. The map is updated each evening to reflect the next day’s route as detailed below:
• BLUE LINE: Indicates the planned walking route for the current day.
• GREEN ICON (Lunch): Planned stop for the midday meal (Visiting Time: 10:30 AM – 1:00 PM).
• BLACK ICON (Night Rest): Designated location where the monks will spend the night (Visiting Time: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM).
• PURPLE ICON: Selecting this icon near stops displays the name and/or address of the location.
Please note that zooming in on the map may be necessary to view the stop and purple address points. Additionally, the ORANGE ICON (Current Location) shows the monks’ approximate current position, which is updated nearly in real time but may experience brief delays. Further information and additional ways to support the initiative can be found on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/walkforpeaceusa.
