About Unity Athens

“The greatest achievement was at first,
and for a time, a mere dream.
The oak sleeps in the acorn,
the bird waits in the egg;
and in the highest vision of the soul,
a waking angel stirs.
Dreams are the seedlings of realities.”
                            — James Allen

Who are we?

We are a group of diverse people: office workers; UGA students, professors, and staff; retirees; young parents; grandparents; entrepreneurs; interpreters; teens; tots; Light workers; retail clerks; volunteers; managers; auto mechanics; psychologists; massage therapists; grad students; nurses; lay leaders.

We are telecom workers, artists, musicians, chiropractors, accountants, teachers, authors, life-long students, life coaches, mothers, daughters, sons, brothers, sisters, fathers, old friends, new friends, and so much more.

We enjoy celebrating and exploring our inherent spirituality, which we believe is a Divine spark, granted to all people. We do this while contemplating and taking positive actions in our lives, our health, our purposes, our goals, our relationships. We enjoy an atmosphere of open-minded, positive thinking.

Some of us come to Unity for deep discussions about life and spiritual principles. Some come for the book discussions; some, to talk about life and its paths. Some come to serve and to teach and to help our community and our planet.

Some of us come for the music, the meditation, the prayers, the fellowship, the sense of peace. Some come for drum circles or movies or concerts or workshops on various aspects of health, wholeness, prosperity and spirituality.

Some come to enjoy a community of like-minded folks. Some of us resonate to the idea of “spiritual,” more than “religious.” Some come because they want something different from the churches they grew up in. And some of us grew up in Unity.

What we do hear again and again from people is that when they come to Unity, it feels like “coming home.”
