ADULT STUDY GROUP  Weekly, Sundays --  9:35 to 10:35 AM Adult Study Group !  

9:35- 10:35 am Adult Study Group. We are delving into the Unity classic, LESSONS IN TRUTH by Emilie Cady. Led by Rev. Bronte.  Discover the Truth Principles the Ms. Cady so beautifully and quietly shared with the Fillmores and with the then-budding Unity movement.  If we finish the book in July, we'll then start HOW I FOUND TRUTH, by Dr. Cady, also available online.

 

Books are available in our bookstore or free in the public domain at Lessons in Truth at "New Thought Library" online.   Emilie Cady was a homeopathic physician from New York when her little booklet, "Finding the Christ in Ourselves," crossed the desk of Unity Founder Myrtle Fillmore. This led to a dynamic partnership with the Fillmores, a personal and professional relationship that would come to help and encourage untold millions. A COURSE IN MIRACLES  (weekly)  Sundays at 2:00 to 3:30 with facilitator Drew Smith, who gives us new insights into the material.  Donation basis.  Drew is an engaging, interesting class leader who makes the material relevant to our lives and easier to understand. This is a very popular class with great discussions.  Stop in for one class or more -- you can always feel comfortable with where they are in the Course.

Sunday, July 17 ~ 1:45 to 3:00  Hands-On Class: "How to Win Contests, Sweepstakes & More" at Unity Athens, taught by Rev. Bronte, who has been winning contests since the age of eight. You will learn practical (and for those interested, metaphysical) tips on how to increase your odds in contests and sweeps; receive information on resources available to sweepstakes hobbyists; and find out pros and cons of online contests. On top of that, you'll get free leads on some contests and get the materials to enter a few right away at this workshop -- including the stamps!  This is a GR~8 Expectations Event  -- the cost is $8.  Please register on line or by contacting Rev. Friday Evening, July 22  7:00 to 9-ish  "Law of Attraction Soiree" at Bronte's home. Join like-minded folks for an evening of fun and Law of Attraction talk.  We'll view some brief, uplifting videos; share in some 'get-happy' exercises; and even have time to set a New Intention or two!  We'll provide snacks, wine (or soft drinks) and time to socialize. Plus, everyone will receive a take-home packet of LoA inspiration. Sign up is required to hold your spot for this GR~8 Expectations Event, which will be limited to no more than 16.  Directions to Bronte's home, if you need them, will be provided after registering.  Sign up at GR8Expectations.org  -- Cost, $8.

Folks have been asking, "When's the next used book sale?"  We're so glad people are donating books and picking up the great bargains that abound when we have these sales. The used book tables will be out on our lovely porch on the following Sundays:  July 3, 17, 24, & 31. We are continuing to accept good condition new or used books covering spirituality, personal growth, and/or self-improvement for upcoming used book sales. Bring your books and music CDs to church on any Sunday. We appreciate your donations!

USED JEWELRY SALE  -- We are accepting donations of costume jewelry, "better" jewelry, and scarves & handbags in excellent condition for our upcoming used jewelry sale, tentatively scheduled for September. Do you have unwanted costume or "better than" costume jewelry? How about scarves or handbags that you'd like to donate for this fund raiser? Bring it to church any Sunday. [Note: If possible, please wait until August to donate any handbags, as they can be a bit bulky to store.] We will price and sell your donated items to raise funds for our continued growth. (Stay tuned for exact date of sale!)

 

SPIRITUAL LIVING CIRCLES are continuing!  Small groups are forming to meet once a week for centering, support, connecting to others, spiritual discussions and more, under the leadership of various hosts in the host's home. If you'e interested in leading a group or participating in one, or you'd like more information, please email us at UnityAthens@Gmail.com  and put "SLC" or "Circles" in the subject line. Most groups meet for either 4, 6, or 8 weeks. No fees to attend, but donations for Unity Athens are always appreciated.  

 

MOUNTAIN TOP RETREAT - Tuesday evening, Sept 13 until Sept 16, Friday morning at Kanuga Retreat Center in North Carolina, hosted by Unity Ministers of the Mid-Atlantic States. Open to all. Keynote by Bishop Carlton Pearson.  Other guest presenters include Dr. Charlotte Shelton, Rev. Dr. Thomas Shepherd, and musician Dale Worley. The Unity Athens folks that have attended these retreats in the past have come home so refreshed and inspired -- raving about what a wonderful time they had.  Details are at www.UMMAS.org, click on "Annual Retreat" from the main page.

One-on-one Prayers with a Chaplain -  Sundays right after church ends, lobby area. Free. Please wait quietly for your turn.  Please note: this is for prayers, not counseling.

 

Lunch with other "Unity Folks" -- Many of our folks go across the street to Transmetropolitan Restaurant, or to other locations around town.  We'll make an effort to announce this on Sundays so newer folks can join in, make some new friends, and so everyone can get to know other folks better.

 

Want to be a member? See Rev. Bronte.  Free classes are available on some Sundays and at select times during the week. One class is required to join unless you are transferring membership from another Unity church.  In December we welcomed five new members into our Unity Athens family.

 

  ONGOING SUNDAYS!  A COURSE IN MIRACLES - 2:00- 3:30.   Unity Athens hosts a study group on the popular A Course in Miracles at The Carson Center every Sunday. Experienced Course facilitator Drew Smith of Unity Christ Center, Suwannee, brings energy, insight, and love to leading this weekly group. His enthusiasm and insight open doorways of understanding to the text. You need not be a former or current student of A Course to be in this class – every week brings its own unique insights.  Love offering and donations appreciated!   Open to all spiritual beliefs.  We hope to see you here!
